Pretty Ladies in Smart Hats...Fabric Art Card Gallery

Fabric art cards are (almost) my newest passion. Their small size - from 3" up to 7" - forces me to get my thoughts on fabric in a very short length of time.

I use the raw-edge applique technique to sew snippets of fabric on extra firm fusible, then further enhance with free motion thread painting. The most fun part of making the "pretty ladies" was to decide on the names to fit their stitched on personality.

I sometimes add grosgrain ribbon for ease in hanging over a door knob, under a refrigerator magnet, on a nail. They can be displayed on a little artist's easel or may be framed. These little ditties are just the greatest "nothing" gifts for just the right person. Enjoy the moment!

Sara Jane - grosgrain ribbon attached for hanging. The ribbon can easily be snipped off if the card is to be framed or placed on an artist's easel. I've used all three display methods.

Definitely heritage contradicted here ....she is Native American....but her name is Willie May. Grosgrain ribbon is added for hanging, but may be snipped off if the preferred method of display is to frame or rest on artist's easel.
